The Hospital Chaplaincy Service offers an access point to meet the spiritual needs of patients, carers and staff. The chaplaincy is the access point for spiritual care whatever your faith may be. We see our main objectives as being to provide, co-ordinate, instruct and monitor the Trust’s response to the individual and unique spiritual needs of all who become part of this community. During a stay in hospital, most patients will be approached by a member of our lay team and asked if they would like to be visited by the chaplaincy. We offer bedside communion, ministry of healing and reconciliation, prayer and Bible readings, counselling and a listening ear. We also provide other departments with the resource needed to meet their own spiritual obligations towards patients, carers and staff. We have a network in place to bring in spiritual carers of most of the world faiths. The Chaplaincy Centre, situated right at the heart of Ysbyty Gwynedd, is the focus and springboard for the Trust’s response to the above mentioned spiritual need. It has two main facets, namely the drawing in of those who need a space to think, talk or pray and a base out of which the Chaplaincy Service can reach out to those in need within the hospital. The Centre includes a multi faith worship area, office, a purpose built counselling room and a room within which ritual washing can take place prior to worship. The worship area has been carefully designed so that the major word faiths can have their own area that is designated for worship use. The Centre is linked to each bedside through Radio Ysbyty Gwynedd. This means that services and events can be broadcast live to each and every patient so that the bed bound patient can participate and be included in corporate acts of worship. Communication within the centre is enhanced through the use of radio microphones linked to a public amplification and loop system. The Centre has a Sunday Service, Catholic Mass, Friday Muslim Prayers, Weekday Services and Daily Muslim Prayers. The Centre is used daily by Christians, Muslims and Hindu, as well as many others who hold no particular faith. The centre is open day and night for all to come in to spend a few moments in silence or in prayer within a soothing environment of tranquillity and peace. Our community hospitals are spiritually cared for through the ministry of local part-time Chaplains. They can be contacted via the ward / departmental staff. Service times at Ysbyty Gwynedd:
