The Department consists of 2 Consultant Physicians, 4 Respiratory Specialist Nurses, 2 Pulmonary Function Specialist Nurses, 1 Clinical Physiologist - Sleep Medicine and 2 Medical Secretaries. The department provides a variety of services that includes Consultant run clinic sessions at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Llandudno General Hospital, and Pwllheli. A Nebuliser Assessment Clinic is run each week by the Respiratory Specialist Nurses and a Tuberculosis Contact Screening Clinic and an Immigration Screening Clinic (which assess new entrants to North West Wales who come from countries with high prevalence of TB for TB immunity or symptoms) are also run. Other services provided by the department include treatment, education and support for patients suffering with a variety of respiratory disorders including: Asthma COPD (chronic bronchitis and emphysema) Bronchiectasis Lung cancer Occupational lung diseases Tuberculosis (TB) Sleep Apnoea Patients requiring long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) Patients requiring detailed lung function assessments The department is actively involved in various educational and research and development activities so that we can continually improve the services offered to patients.
