The Therapy Consortium
The Therapy Consortium is an integral part of the Community Hospitals and Rehabilitation Directorate. The purpose of therapy can be defined as follows:
- To investigate, assess and, where appropriate, offer treatment, advice and support to people of all ages so that they are enabled to overcome, compensate or adapt to the effects of an impairment or disability in order to reach their optimum level of functioning.
The consortium comprises of therapy, dietetic and rehabilitation services. Therapy services are provided at:
- Acute/Community Hospitals
- Health Centres
- Clinics
- Patients' own homes
- Day Centres
- General Practitioners Surgeries
The Technology Centre to the Disabled
The Technology Centre to the Disabled is provided by a joint arrangement between Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and the Rehabilitation Engineering Unit.
