MENTAL HEALTH & LEARNING DISABILITY : Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services            
 

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service has its main centre at Talarfon in Bangor. 

It is a community based service providing specialist mental health assessment, treatment and therapy for children (from approximately 5 years of age), adolescents and their families.

The specialist multidisciplinary team comprise of staff from three organisations:  North West Wales NHS Trust, Gwynedd Social Services Department and Anglesey Social Services Department.

The team comprises of Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Psychologists, Senior Nurse, Senior Child Therapist, Child Therapists, Social Workers, Primary Mental Health Specialists and the Administrative Team.  The clinical staff work together to respond to the needs of children with severe mental health problems and severe conduct disorders.

A Child and Family Conduct Disorder Centre is situated on the Bryn y Neuadd site, Llanfairfechan.  This is the first of its kind in Wales and allows severely disruptive children and their families to be observed by trained staff in a typical domestic setting.
