| EEG stands for Electro-Encephalography and is a recording of the very small electrical changes which are constantly taking place in the brain. EEG is not a treatment, but a test as harmless as a photograph. No effects are felt during or after the test, and the procedure takes approximately 40 - 60 minutes. |
 | The department is based at Ysbyty Gwynedd and provides a range of neurophysiological investigations for adults and children in the Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey area.These investigations include routine and sleep deprived EEG recordings to the more complex procedures of ambulatory monitoring, multiple sleep latency testing and overnight sleep studies. All investigations are performed using Simultaneous Digital EEG / Videometry equipment which is transportable to ward based patients in Ysbyty Gwynedd. For clients that are unable to travel to Ysbyty Gwynedd, the department has portable laptop equipment and provides an EEG Service to any of the community hospitals / clinics in the catchment area. For Learning Disability clients domicillary appointments can be organised within the community setting. |
