Building on the ongoing work of the Trust Board and with the release of the Corporate Objectives, the Finance Directorate has identified the need to support the delivery of these objectives at a local level. The Finance Directorate's Mission Statement outlines the diverse services provided by the Directorate in meeting patient needs: "To provide a professional accounting and supplies service which delivers sound, proactive financial advice, guidance and support to all Trust Directorates, ensuring value for money is obtained at all times by building on relationships with internal and external stakeholders." In response to the Trust's Strategic Aims, the Finance Directorate has produced specific objectives designed to support and deliver the overall strategic aims, along with enhancing processes and practices within the Directorate as a whole: - To achieve Welsh Assembly Government financial targets and any other legislative financial or accounting standards.
- To provide financial support and advice for business cases on new developments and quality initiatives both of a revenue and capital nature.
- Ensure Trust processes and procedures are continually updated to reflect the Trust's commitment to being a forward thinking organisation.
- To ensure that the Trust achieves its performance management objectives in support of the National Plan and local targets by encouraging and supporting Directorates to meet their Cost Improvement Programme targets and other such targets.
- Ensure compliance with internal control standards for corporate governance, risk management and financial management, ensuring that the Trust seeks value for money and where required provide financial training to non-financial staff to develop awareness throughout the Trust.
- To continue to develop and build upon current professional relationships with other government bodies, Local Health Boards and internally with all the Directorates.
- Provide support, encouragement, training and mentoring to all staff within the Directorate in support of both professional and personal development.
- To continually improve the quality and effectiveness of the services offered by the Directorate and continue to build upon communication with external bodies.
- To ensure Directorate staff are trained and developed to the required level, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to undertake their duties competently, at the right time and place to deliver the Trust's objectives.
- To support the Trust's modernisation agenda to deliver high quality facilities and environment for patients and staff.
