WOMEN AND FAMILIES : Tŷ Enfys

Tŷ Enfys has been built in response to the need for parents and families of sick infants, children and young people who are admitted to Ysbyty Gwynedd to be provided with suitable accommodation.  Facilities are always available on the Children's Unit for one parent to stay by the child's bedside, and this is usually satisfactory when children have a short-term hospital admission.

In other areas of the hospital, special arrangements can be made with the Ward Sister.

When children require longer-term care in hospital, it is important that the family have a comfortable, home-from-home room where they continue to be a family and therefore help reduce the stressful effects of separation.

Tribute must be paid to the efforts of the fundraisers and the generosity of so many people who have made Tŷ Enfys possible.

The Tŷ Enfys philosophy is:

  • To assist babies, children and young people to continue their family life whilst in hospital by providing essential accommodation and amenities for their carers.
  • To provide advice and support to the resident families of Tŷ Enfys.
  • To co-operate and foster good working relationships and liaise with all agencies who may have an appropriate interest in the service offered by Tŷ Enfys.
  • To encourage strong links between Tŷ Enfys and the community it serves in order to maintain its interest and profile to secure and receive further donations for its upkeep.
  • To promote safeguards of children and young people cared for by the Trust.
