The Special Care Baby Unit is situated on the first floor adjacent to the entrance to the delivery suite at Ysbyty Gwynedd.  Our dedicated team aims to provide holistic care for up to 12 babies and their families.

We care for babies experiencing a range of problems, including feeding difficulties and problems following premature birth.

We can provide intensive care nursing for a short period only, and the babies are transferred to the sub-regional unit in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd.  Once their condition improves, they are transferred back to the Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd for continued care.
