Some patients may have the option to perform haemodialysis at home. Learning to do home haemodialysis takes 3 - 6 weeks of training. A partner (usually a family member) and the patient are trained and both share responsibilities. A haemodialysis training nurse teaches the patient to dialyse during their dialysis sessions. Over time, the patient and partner are given more responsibilities at these sessions. Home haemodialysis works very well for some people. |
