Mr John E Davies OBE

Born in Bangor, Mr Davies was educated at Friars School, Bangor before gaining professional qualifications as a Chartered Secretary and Administrator (ICSA) and Public Sector (IPFA) and Private Sector (AAIA) accountant through the medium of private study, 1959 – 1971. After two years National Service he was appointed Administrative Officer in the County Council’s Further Education Department in 1957. |
He was appointed to the post of Clerk and Chief Financial Officer to the former Llanrwst Urban District and Betws y Coed Urban District Councils in 1961 and held these appointments until Local Government Reorganisation in 1974. | He was appointed Director of Administration and Legal Services for the former Aberconwy Borough Council and from 1985 until his retirement in 1993 he held the post of Chief Executive Officer of that Authority. Since his retirement he has been involved in public service work and was a member of the former Residuary Body for Wales, the Post Office Users Council for Wales and has chaired NHS Complaint Investigatory Panels. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales. Mr Davies was awarded the OBE for public service in January 2007. |
