JARGON BUSTER: U            
 
Ultrasound    A scan that uses sound waves to form a picture of part of the body
Umbilical Cord The cord containing blood vessels that connects the developing baby to the mother
Umbilicus The tummy (belly) button
Unilateral On one side
Urea and Electrolytes (U&Es) A blood test that shows the levels of minerals and salts in the body
Ureter The tube that connects the kidneys to the bladder
Urethra The tube connected to the bladder, through which urine flows when urinating 
Urine The waste product forms after the kidneys have cleaned the blood of waste products and excess water
Urology The study of the kidneys, bladder and urinary tract
