This section explains what you may expect when you attend Ysbyty Gwynedd or Llandudno General Hospital as a private patient under Consultant Care. Private patients are those who give an undertaking to pay charges for accommodation and clinical services. The act of paying privately for any part of the patient’s treatment will mean that the whole of that treatment is deemed to be private and liable for charges. An example of this would be paying for a non standard drug not available on the NHS. When admitted privately, a private patient should expect the admitting Consultant to be personally responsible for his / her care. For insurance purposes Ysbyty Gwynedd is classed as a band ‘C’ hospital under BUPA hospital categorisation - NHS hospital without a dedicated private patient unit. Legislation
