The North West Wales NHS Trust has been successful in retaining its Gold Corporate Health at Work Standard.

The Corporate Health at Work Standard is the national mark of quality for health and well-being in the workplace.  It is awarded by the Welsh Assembly Government to workplaces where there has been a demonstrable commitment to improving and promoting the health and well-being of their employees.

Mr Elfed Roberts, Chairman of the Trust said: "I am so pleased, not only with retaining the award itself, but with the recognition that we are an organisation that really cares about the well-being of everyone working within the Trust.  We will continue to strive to make the Trust environment a healthy one, where staff are supported, feel valued and are able to maximise their personal contribution to the work of the Trust.

"Organisations have an important part to play in improving the health of their employees, and this award highlights the good work that has been done at the Trust.  However, to be successful, individuals must also take responsibility for their own welfare and that of their family, and together there is a considerable amount that we can do to improve our health."

Mr Martin Jones, Chief Executive said: "The Trust has run a number of health fairs at a variety of locations throughout the area which have helped staff to stop smoking, given advice on healthy eating and encourage individuals to take more exercise.

"The staff who are involved in Health at Work have worked extremely hard to implement healthy living initiatives, organising health fairs, seminars and awareness days throughout the Trust.  These initiatives and others will continue and develop over the coming months."
